OFRA seeks an exceptional project team…

Following the funding announcement in July 2013 by AGRA, the Optimizing Fertilizer Recommendations for Africa (OFRA) is starting to build a new project team to deliver the ambitious work plan.

George Oduor, project manager for OFRA explained: “The OFRA project is very much part of the Africa Soil Health Consortium (ASHC), but the new challenges of the project mean we need to augment the team. As this project will be working in 13 sub-Saharan countries it is essential that we build our capacity with French-speaking Africans. So, we are looking for a communications specialist and a half-time post of regional soil fertility specialist (West Africa) both posts will be based in West Africa – probably Accra, Ghana.

There are two posts that will be located in Nairobi. The first job is a monitoring and evaluation specialist. The most senior post we are currently recruiting is the soil spatial information analyst. This post, although employed by CABI as part of OFRA, will be a joint appointment with the Africa Soil Information Service. The post holder of this job will be supported by the data manager to exploit the synergies between the new data generated by the OFRA project and the ground-breaking work undertaken by the Africa Soil Information Service, as well as other initiatives, over the past few years.”

Please note that the closing date for the receipt of applications are as follows:

  • Monitoring and evaluation specialist – Tuesday 15 October 2013
  • Soil spatial information analyst – Tuesday 15 October 2013
  • Communications specialist – Tuesday 15 October 2013
  • Regional soil fertility specialist (West Africa) – Tuesday 15 October 2013

All applications should be received by midnight UK time.
