Plantwise Pesticide Restrictions

Which Pesticide should you recommend?

Our colleagues at Plantwise have developed a really useful resource to ensure we do not recommend chemicals that are banned or restricted by international agreements.

The Plantwise Pesticide Restrictions Tool  lists pesticides identified as Classes Ia and Ib by the WHO Recommended Classification of Pesticides by Hazard.

The resource also identifies pesticides banned or restricted by the:

• Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade
• The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants 
• Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer 

The websites of the agreements give the most up-to-date lists of banned and restricted pesticides and provide additional information on the hazards associated with each chemical.  The Plantwise list remains a very useful source of quick reference, but please note it was last updated in May 2013 in line with the last changes to these protocols.
